#DES231 Blog7 Black Panther

Black Panther is a Marvel movie that I like very much. I had already watched it once when it was released, but at the time, I watched this movie more like a Marvel fan. At the time, I thought that this film was an excellent way to expose racism about black people, but now when I watch this film for the second time, it combines the content learned in this course, futurist and aboriginal. Let me Re-examine the movie.

In the movie, the social background of Wakanda is first explained. There is a warrior who gained endless strength and fighting power because of the heart-shaped grass and finally established the kingdom of Wakanda. To become the king of Wakanda, he must have the blood of the royal family of the tribe to participate in the duel challenge. In my opinion, every king has decision-making power, and everyone will be loyal to the king and allegiance to Wakanda. In the movie, every king has a different policy governing the country. Some are conservative, some are radical, and some are in the middle of the two.

I think King Techara's decision is wise, but it is also full of dangers. The so-called suffering from gains and losses is the case. Because they chose to help the world and share their latest technology, this has advantages and disadvantages. These technologies may fall into the hands of some powerful countries to make more lethal weapons. This is the law of the jungle. However, these technologies will also completely change our future.

"Black Panther" has been famous on the Internet with its unique aesthetics, thanks to the African-American actors and creative team, which overturned the Western design favoured by contemporary science fiction. Putting black people at the centre of the future world in the movie is a trend of thought born in the 20th century called "Afrofuturism". It spans science fiction literature, music, art, and mythology, combined with the technology of the time, and imagines the future of humanity from the perspective of African descent.

Of course, it is still difficult for us to see the rise of African Futurism at this stage of the century. The biggest reason is that we still live in the ideology of Western traditional culture and art. But in the movie has brought us a new understanding of African culture. What about African tribal culture, artistic style, lifestyle, and social formation? For example, in Wakanda, tradition and innovation are not mutually exclusive. The country's ancient culture and its 21st-century advanced technology are developing in parallel. However, post-colonialism often prioritizes Western philosophy and design in the real world and does not allow traditional culture to fulfil its potential. It seems that there are not too many African shadows in the corporate communications officer Uhura; go on the street. In a circle, few African-Americans knew their origins. When the United States severely controlled the descendants of African descent, they were deprived of the right to learn their mother tongue. Therefore, I believe that under the development of African Futurism, the rights of capitalism must be abolished.

As a heroic movie in Marvel, the Black Panther movie is rare because it covers too many factors. Today, the descendants of Africa are conceiving a new world of tomorrow, using their language to tell the stories of women, cheetahs, pyramids and stars. In addition to "Black Panther", a series of science fiction novels, music, costumes and artists from the African continent can all prove This point. But in the end, it is undeniable that the Black Panther is the best example of "African Futurism" in recent years.
